“The CENTRiC A1 comes with a loaded spec sheet in the budget segment”
CENTRiC, a home-bred handset maker, debuted in the Indian market with the launch of the four smartphones earlier this year. Each of its offerings was high on features, but light on the pocket. Taking this philosophy further, the company has just introduced the CENTRiC A1, which happens to strike the perfect balance between price and performance. But that’s not all, the device also promises to deliver a powerful multimedia experience. Wondering what else makes the CENTRiC A1 a perfect candidate for your next smartphone? Read on to know what makes it a great buy.
Gone are the days when smartphones were more of a workhorse and less of a looker. In recent days, we have witnessed that it’s possible for a stunning-looking smartphone to pack a punch when it comes to performance. The CENTRiC A1 is a fine example of what we call a beauty with brains. The metal-clad handset is quite thin at 7.8mm and is endowed with subtle curves on the rear panel, which makes it ergonomic and feel comfortable in hand. Moreover, the display on the front too has been topped with 2.5D curved glass all across so the handset is pretty comfortable to hold and operate as well. The brand is also offering the unibody smartphone in three attractive hues – White / Gold, Black / Grey and Gold.
At the back of the A1, you’ll find a fingerprint scanner for security purposes. Not only the sensor promises accurate authentication, it’s also fast as it can unlock the phone within 0.02 seconds.
The first thing that comes to the notice when you pick up any smartphone is the display. The 5.5-inch display on CENTRiC A1 uses an IPS In-Cell panel, which offers great viewing experience along with good sunlight legibility. Ensuring that the display is resistant to scratches, it’s layered with Dragontrail Glass. Adding to the multimedia experience is the support for DTS Sound, which together with the integrated BOX speakers, deliver a punchy audio output. For those unaware, DTS stands for Dedicated to Sound, which promises a surround sound output, not much different from what one experiences in modern theatres.
The combination of a vivid display and powerful audio output makes CENTRiC A1 an ideal handset for those who prefer to watch movies and listen to music on their smartphones.
Gone are the days when only high-end premium smartphones come with a camera that lets you click impressive images. The CENTRiC A1 also aims to help you capture the special moments in the best possible way with its 13-megapixel rear camera, coupled with a dual-LED flash. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera accompanied by a LED flash, so you need not worry about those low-light selfies either.
The camera interface comes loaded with features like live filters, face detection and ability to click a picture using your fingerprint. The front snapper has also been equipped with a beauty mode, which enhances the image by smoothening out the skin tone, and you can also control the level of the beauty mode with the slider.
If a smartphone is loaded to the brim with features, but the processor is not designed to handle them well, then all those features result in a poorer experience. However, that’s not the case with CENTRiC A1 as it comes with a full-fledged spec sheet. The phonemaker has equipped the handset with a Snapdragon 430 SoC, which is an octa-core unit clocked at 1.4GHz. The processor is mated to 3GB of RAM to ensure that all running apps and tasks have ample memory at their disposal to perform smoothly. For storage, there is 32GB of memory onboard, which can be further expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card. On the connectivity front, the dual-SIM device comes with support for 4G, VoLTE and ViLTE along with the usual options of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS.
By now we have established the fact that the CENTRiC A1 is a loaded smartphone. The same story continues in the battery department as well to ensure that you don’t need to hunt for a charger even before the day runs out. The device is fitted with a 3,000mAh cell, which CENTRiC claims can deliver up to 240 hours of standby time and up to 15 hours of talk time. And in case you run out of the battery because of extensive gaming or binge-watching your favourite TV series, the A1’s battery can be topped up rapidly with the support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
Now that you know all the features and hardware of the CENTRiC, what your guess would be regarding its price? Well, what if we were to tell you that it’s an affordable smartphone? Well, the smartphone has been priced attractively at Rs 10,999, which easily undercuts the competition. Moreover, the A1 is available offline in retail stores as well, making it more accessible to the masses.
These are the top reasons why the CENTRiC A1 makes for a good buy under Rs 12,000. Sweetening the package further is the inclusion of Android 7.1.1 Nougat with the smartphone. In association with CENTRiC India
